2022-2023 Collaboration Micro-Grant A A

Due Date October 21, 2022 @ 10am

In 2020-2021, the Angelina Arts Alliance along with key stakeholders, including the City of Lufkin, kicked off Phase 1: Cultural District Planning. This included a comprehensive feasibility assessment of cultural and physical assets which was used to determine the viability of pursuing actions necessary in becoming an epicenter of arts and culture in East Texas. One notation in the report’s findings was “List of Assets is Impressive for Lufkin’s Size, but Could be Maximized for Impact,” The report also encouraged better coordination of resources and cross-promotion of activities. We are now launching Phase 2: Cultural District Application. Phase 2 involves working on our application, cultural and marketing plan, and producing a video with the goal of submission in June of 2023. This grant – which is a key part of the
Phase 2 process – provides seed capital to spark improved collaboration through new ideas, collaborative projects, and cross-promotion opportunities. Our goals are to:

-Spark collaboration and engage unlikely and unlikely partners in promotion of the soon-to-be-named cultural district
-Kickstart some fun, new projects to inspire cultural tourism this fall and spring
-Provide resources to better cross-promote all of Lufkin’s assetsGet still photos and video from the awarded collaboration projects for application

The project is being funded by a grant from the T.L.L Temple Foundation with the end goal of putting Lufkin on the map of State designated cultural districts. We appreciate their early support of this important project.
