Saturday morning the ribbon was cut and the first museum of natural history in deep East Texas was opened to the public.

Dr. Neal Naranjo and his family spent 14 months in planning and constructing the Naranjo Museum of Natural History.

Enjoy the museum up close with fabulous food, beer and wine (adults will be responsible for their children). Doors open at 7PM with music, guided tours and exciting interactive exhibits.

Something big is coming to East Texas. The Naranjo Museum of Natural History will open its doors to the public on Saturday, September 8, 2012. Families, friends, media and history enthusiasts are all welcomed for the ribbon cutting at 10 a.m., 5104 South First St., Lufkin, TX.

Dinosaurs have been extinct for a long time, but their size, power and habitats still captivate peoples’ imaginations. In September, East Texans will be able to enjoy several thousand fossils of these ancient and mysterious creatures at the Naranjo Museum of Natural History in Lufkin.

Sixth generation Lufkinite Dr. Neal Naranjo has spent 40 years of his life collecting artifacts from across the world. Naranjo is bringing his passion back to his hometown, presenting his finds in the Naranjo Museum of Natural History.
